Asus ROG Phone II: The Next Step In Mobile Gaming
Mobile games have been on the rise lately. Gone are the days where we only have to think about whether or not we could be able to play Clash of Clans on our phones. Clash of Clans is so yesterday. Nowadays, games like Genshin Impact (which I’ve been playing, and is fantastic), Mobile Legends, Wild Rift, and even off-beat Japanese rhythm games are on the rise. These games take up a huge amount of time to play. But these games are also notorious for taking up a huge amount of space and memory. What do you do when you want to take your mobile gaming experience to the next level? Why, buy a new ga ming smartphone, of course!
But, within that problem lies another problem. Last year saw the rise of many gaming smartphones. It’s a landmine of expensive phones and things that could be easily mistaken as a monolith. There’s a lot to go right with them, but there’s also a lot to go wrong. Don’t worry though, as Asus got your back with this one with their Asus ROG Phone II.
Yes, admittedly, Asus wasn’t very well known for their gaming phones. They’re mostly known for their consumer laptops. But, there’s much more to them than their consumer laptops; they’re the epitome of gaming.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, Asus has made excellent gaming laptops through the years. The release of their first gaming smartphone in 2018 marked their first foray into the gaming smartphone market, and they’ve been one of the best ones since then.
The Asus ROG Phone 2 has been getting on a bit now since its release. But, from the way it performs, it doesn’t feel like it at all. Technology is consistently evolving, and things that were released in 2019 could already be obsolete by the time it reached a year old. But the Asus ROG Phone II managed to stay afloat with its marvelous specs.
ROG Phone ll: The Specs
This may be boring for people who aren’t interested in specs but stay with me. Some of you may want a phone for the purposes of having a phone, but the Asus ROG Phone II is more than a phone; it’s a gaming platform. It should do more than a regular phone, a0nd I’m delighted to report that it does. With its excellent Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ process0or, it’s sure to provide a smooth gaming experience to any game that you play, even Cand0y Crush.
The memory size would depend on how much money you’ll be willing to spen01d on it. The base one with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is all fine, but there are some that could reach up to 12GB of RAM with either 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB of storage. There aren’t any microSD slots, so choose properly depending on your needs.
All of those specs would be useless without a good display, and the Asus ROG Phone II more than makes up for it. The excellent 120hZ refresh rate is sure to give a crisp and smooth experience. That, mixed with its excellent 6.59 inch AMOLED display and an excellent 2340 x 1080-pixel resolution is sure to give any gamer an unforgettable experience. Granted, it isn’t as sharp as any of the newer phones on the products on the market. But, the Asus ROG Phone II already blows through most of its competition without any problem at all.
Though, a good phone with outstanding specs would be all for nothing if the battery runs out faster than the elusive Loch Ness monster. That’s not going to be a problem with the Asus ROG Phone II, as it comes with a 6,000mAH battery. Its 30W charger is also sure to give a speedy charging experience. Some reports even claim to get as much as 40 percent of battery charge on a single hour of charging. To put that into perspective, you could play Genshin Impact for at least 6 hours without charging.
Now that we’re talking about Genshin Impact, playing it on mobile makes it just a little bit more difficult than playing it on PC. But there’s a huge amount of gaming paraphernalia available for the phone, including a Nintendo Switch-Esque gamepad attachment called Kunai. It’s two separate controllers that are attached to the side of the phone to ease the gaming experience by a large margin. The phone also comes with two USB-C ports, which means that you could use the accessories while playing your favorite games.
There are also no worries of your phone being too hot to handle, as the phone itself comes with its own water-cooling system. That makes It possible to play harder for longer, without the potential risk of ruining the battery of your precious phone.
If you want to buy the Asus ROG Phone II for something other than gaming, then don’t worry as it also comes with a 48-megapixel camera. You could take crystal-clear pictures, and that, combined with the phone’s stellar display setting, makes it a good phone to take instagrammable photos as well. You’re not buying this phone to take pictures, you’d be buying this phone for its gaming capacities. But it doesn’t hurt to know that it does a lot more than what it’s designed to do.
After all of this talk about specs and all that, it’s pretty obvious that you’d want one. There won’t be much of a problem with that, as it starts at $899.99. Yes, the price is a bit steep. But, compared to other products on the market, it’s the best one that you could buy. It’s much more than a gaming smartphone. It does all that it’s designed to do, and so much more beyond that.
